Projects

Lions is a community service organisation! People join Lions because they want to user their intellect, creativity, commitment and enthusiasm to get things done.  This is where you can find out about the sorts of projects that your local Lions Club is doing.  Like what you see?  Get involved!

The Lions Club of Geelong Corio Bay is engaged in events ranging from the Geelong Agricultural Show, to the All Ford Day and the bi-annual Avalon Airshow. By assisting with these events, we perform an important community service and raise funds to be distributed to the most needy in our community. We also conduct sausage sizzles at Bunning's Corio and support the Geelong Eisteddfod.

One of our most successful projects is to attract sponsorship from agencies and philanthropic trusts, allowing groups of Geelong's disadvantaged children and volunteer leaders to attend a five day adventure camp at Lions Village Licola (http://www.licola.org.au/). We are already looking forward to entry gate and parking duties at the mighty Avalon Air Show 2017. Who wouldn't want to be part of that great event?

Some beneficiaries of our many recent fundraising activities are listed below;-

"Operation Newstart" received $17,000 which part funded the purchase of a mini-bus to transport marginalized young people to ensure that they participated in adventure activities under the guidance of police and state education staff.
Samaritan House received a $5000 contribution to assist homeless people.
Anam Cara, Wombats Wish, Legacy and Lions Village Licola received donations.
Lion's foundations which provide emergency responses to national and overseas emergencies received $4000.
We also funded many other initiatives too numerous to list on this page.
